Helena Fliedner is a 23 year-old student who returns to her home town to get married. The wedding is tipped to be the social event of the year; her dress, the cake, the guests, everything has got to be perfect when Helena walks up to the altar. First and foremost, the groom is perfect; Tom Schenker, a teacher-counsellor at the Anne Frank High School, who all the girls adored. Helena had fallen in love with him when he was still her language teacher. Like most of her friends, including Cara, her younger sister.
A week before the wedding, they throw a traditional hen party. The young women are flushed and slightly drunk as they wend their way through the bars and clubs in the town, ending up in Helena’s flat late at night, where they round things off by popping some pills.
The next morning, Helena has vanished and Tom has been brutally murdered. None of the young women can remember what really happened during the night.
